Asia University (AU) is established for 20 years, and the anniversary is on 13/3/2021 (Saturday). Three days ago, the Times Higher Education (THE) report was published which includes the 2021 Emerging Economies University Rankings, indicating that 16 universities in Taiwan enter the top 200, and AU is ranked No. 87 in the world, No. 10 in Taiwan, No. 3 of the private universities, and No. 1 of the non-medical private universities. This performance is raised 26 places better than last year and enters the top 100. The President of AU, Prof. Jeffrey J. P. Tsai, said that on the eve of the anniversary, this achievement is like receiving the best international gift!
In the rankings, 606 universities from 48 countries in emerging economies around the world are on the list. The sister school of AU, China Medical University (CMU), is ranked No. 43 in the world, No. 5 in the country, and No. 2 of the private universities. The two schools, which join the union “China Asia Associated University,” both enter the list, and both enter the top 100.
The president of the board of trustees of “China Asia Associated University,” Prof. Chang-Hai Tsai, has repeatedly asked the two universities to face the difficulties of Taiwan's higher education administration, not only to advance international rankings, but to receive international recognition for running the schools, so as to gain global recognition. Also, “China Asia Associated University” must continue to improve and become a union of two internationally renowned schools.
President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai said that in the 14th year since the establishment of AU, the school has been ranked as the world’s best university by the THE report, and has been listed in the rankings for eight years continuously. During this period, AU was also ranked in three major categories: Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Jiaotong University, British QS, and US News and World Report. The hard work of the AU teams is obvious to all.
President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai pointed out that combining the Asia University Hospital (AUH) as the field of practice, the development of AI precision medicine will raise greatly the pass rate of national medical-related examinations, and guarantee each student to find a job, with a monthly salary of more than NTD$50,000, giving the students a feeling that the university has being working very hard for 20 years and has great achievements!“For 4 years at AU, you will be a “big guy” (“DA REN WU 大人物” in Chinese) in the AI era!” President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai said, “because the whole school promotes the basic teaching research and cooperation of artificial intelligence (AI), and offers the comprehensive AI cross-field application and practical courses which let each student study the courses of big data (“Big” means “DA 大” in Chinese), artificial intelligence (“artificial” means “created by humans” where “humans” means “REN 人” in Chinese), and IOT (“T” in IOT means “thing” which means “WU 物” in Chinese), and become a “DA REN WU 大人物” in the AI area. In the past three years, AU’s students and teachers have participated in many AI competitions and have won ten national innovation awards and 33 general awards. Some communities have been implemented, such as teachers and students using AI wisdom to prevent dementia and internet addiction, increase incomes from fish farming, etc., which have achieved good results and fulfilled the university’s social responsibility (USR).
