The competition, organized by a global association of top chefs, was held on May 10–11 at the aT Center in Seoul, South Korea. It attracted 851 participants from 12 countries, including Korea, Taiwan, Germany, Indonesia, the United States, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, and Turkey, who gathered to showcase their culinary skills and engage in cross-cultural exchanges. Competition categories included live cooking, cold display plating, Japanese wagashi, Western pastry and baking, Chinese cuisine, and mixology, highlighting the diversity of global culinary culture.

The event invited Bayram Özrek, Chair of Turkish Culinary Associations, as chief judge to provide professional evaluations. Competition President Yang praised Lin Ming-Hong’s creation, noting that it not only demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship but also skillfully incorporated Taiwanese cultural elements, impressing the judges and earning high acclaim.

Lin Ming-Hong, formerly a high school baking competitor at Youth Senior High School, chose to pursue nursing through personal application when entering university, but his passion for baking never waned. Despite the demanding nursing curriculum, he continued to practice diligently and prepared intensively for the competition, ultimately standing out on the international stage to win the gold medal.

Lin shared that preparing for the competition was extremely challenging, as he balanced the dual roles of nursing student and culinary competitor, managing time, stress, and international competition demands. With the support and encouragement of faculty and peers, he persevered and showcased the determination and talent of Taiwan’s youth.

At the award moment, Lin proudly raised a flag emblazoned with “Asia University College of Nursing” in front of the world’s competitors, feeling immense pride and emotion. As a next-generation multipotentialite, he aspires to continue developing both his nursing and baking skills, using his culinary expertise to provide therapeutic care to patients and families, courageously pursuing his dreams and creating new possibilities.
